As part of the new Governance model of the Scientific Information System Redalyc, the Redalyc Steering Committee<\/a> and the Redalyc-AmeliCA Advisory Board<\/a> are pleased to introduce the Redalyc-AmeliCA Journal Evaluation Board<\/b><\/a> for the 2023-2023 period, the entity that supports and endorses the scientific and editorial quality of journals aiming to be indexed in these platforms. This endeavor used to be fulfilled by the Advisory Board; however, considering the increasing demand, we will now rely on two collegiate bodies. The Advisory Board will be in charge of strategic issues, and the Evaluation Board of ensuring the quality of journals.<\/p>\n

The process for being indexed in the Redalyc Index of Certified Journals entails the following stages: a) the journal submission, b) the assessment by the Editorial quality department, c) the ratification by the Steering Committee, and d) the Board\u2019s appraisal. The aim is to carry out an holistic and collegiate evaluation between the Redalyc-AmeliCA internal bodies, and experts affiliated to diverse prestigious academic institutions, fields of study, and geographic regions in order to suffice the need of openness.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Redalyc is launching the automated system both to assess journals, and to monitor the interaction between the Board and the editors. By this means, more efficient and<\/p>\n

transparent processes will take place, and metrics and reports resulting from this Redalyc-AmeliCA essential activity will be delivered.<\/p>\n

The Board will have at their disposal a fully transparent evaluation process of all journals aiming to be indexed in these platforms and, in this way, will be able to accomplish objective and qualitative appraisals of content, scope, challenges and enrichment of the academic journals that will be under their consideration. The members will be responsible for either highlighting the journals\u2019 strengths, or sending journals back for reassessment, if it is necessary, enhancing the feedback report so that they can be submitted again once they comply with the criteria suggested.<\/p>\n

At the time, this entity is represented by six people affiliated to six institutions from six countries:<\/p>\n
