   

    

    

    {"id":11875,"date":"2021-08-09T20:23:28","date_gmt":"2021-08-10T01:23:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/amelica.org\/?p=11875"},"modified":"2023-09-26T19:24:27","modified_gmt":"2023-09-26T19:24:27","slug":"the-unesco-led-alliance-between-redalyc-uaem-the-oscar-ribas-university-of-angola-and-amelica-seeks-to-promote-the-adoption-of-a-national-strategy-for-open-access-and-open-data-in-angola","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amelica.org\/index.php\/en\/2021\/08\/09\/the-unesco-led-alliance-between-redalyc-uaem-the-oscar-ribas-university-of-angola-and-amelica-seeks-to-promote-the-adoption-of-a-national-strategy-for-open-access-and-open-data-in-angola\/","title":{"rendered":"The UNESCO-led alliance between Redalyc-UAEM, the Oscar Ribas University of Angola, and AmeliCA seeks to promote the adoption of a national strategy for Open Access and Open Data in Angola"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The development of a national Open Access policy proposal, the creation of a National Digital Repository, and constant training for academics, students, and administrators in the Open Access paradigm, are actions that seek to promote Angola in terms of scientific development and dissemination of knowledge, these advances will be led by UNESCO, The Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM) through Redalyc, AmeliCA, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation of Angola and The Oscar Ribas University, in conjunction with Angolan government, and higher education institutions in order to increase and preserve its scientific and technological heritage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11880\" src=\"https:\/\/amelica.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/angola_ppt-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"599\" height=\"357\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amelica.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/angola_ppt-1.png 599w, https:\/\/amelica.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/angola_ppt-1-300x179.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project, called \u201cOpen Access for Angola\u201d (OA for Angola) is the result of the interactions that the African country has had with Redalyc UAEM and AmeliCA where<\/span><span style=\"color: #1b9280;\"><a style=\"color: #1b9280;\" href=\"https:\/\/amelica.org\/index.php\/2020\/09\/03\/angola-comprometida-con-mejorar-las-capacidades-del-acceso-abierto-a-la-informacion-cientifica\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> they carried out, in 2020, a seminar\u00a0 focused on the creation, management, and indexing of scientific journals<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In said event, which was divided into five parts, and 696 people registered, representatives of various Angolan institutions discussed the development of actions that would benefit the country and accepted the support of one of the most important Open Access institutions in the American continent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-11861\" src=\"https:\/\/amelica.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Blog-1-1024x556.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"434\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amelica.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Blog-1-1024x556.png 1024w, https:\/\/amelica.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Blog-1-300x163.png 300w, https:\/\/amelica.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Blog-1-768x417.png 768w, https:\/\/amelica.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Blog-1-1536x834.png 1536w, https:\/\/amelica.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Blog-1-2048x1112.png 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the direction of UNESCO and with the experience of the Redalyc-UAEM and AmeliCA\u2019s teams, a series of activities will be developed that seeks to strengthen Open Access practices to the Angolan academy. That leads to the defense of scientific content as a common good, accessible to anyone who wishes to consult it. Offering training for professors, students, and members of libraries, it is sought to make this scientific paradigm a universal value for Angolans and allow the preservation of the scientific and technological heritage of the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11862\" src=\"https:\/\/amelica.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Blog-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"460\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amelica.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Blog-2.jpg 850w, https:\/\/amelica.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Blog-2-300x162.jpg 300w, https:\/\/amelica.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Blog-2-768x416.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the search to preserve their cultural heritage, other African nations are making efforts to reappropriate it, such as <\/span><span style=\"color: #1b9280;\"><a style=\"color: #1b9280;\" href=\"https:\/\/elpais.com\/planeta-futuro\/2021-07-26\/africa-prepara-la-vuelta-a-casa-de-su-legado.html?prm=ep-app-cabecera\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nigeria, where they seek to recover works of art and artifacts that belong to the nation<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Similarly, the implementation of an Open Access policy and the development of a national digital repository will allow Angolan authors to preserve their scientific and technological contributions by increasing the national collection and promoting the reading of these research products.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This project is lead in Angola by the <\/span><span style=\"color: #1b9280;\"><a style=\"color: #1b9280;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ciencia.ao\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><a style=\"color: #1b9280;\" href=\"http:\/\/uor.ed.ao\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oscar Ribas University<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #1b9280;\">,<\/span> and in Mexico, it is lead by the <\/span><span style=\"color: #1b9280;\"><a style=\"color: #1b9280;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uaemex.mx\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UAEM<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through <\/span><span style=\"color: #1b9280;\"><a style=\"color: #1b9280;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.redalyc.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Redalyc<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><span style=\"color: #1b9280;\"><a style=\"color: #1b9280;\" href=\"https:\/\/amelica.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AmeliCA<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #1b9280;\">,<\/span> counting with the material and technical support of several Angolan institutions such as the <\/span><span style=\"color: #1b9280;\"><a style=\"color: #1b9280;\" href=\"https:\/\/uan.ao\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Agostinho Neto University<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #1b9280;\">,<\/span> the <\/span><span style=\"color: #1b9280;\"><a style=\"color: #1b9280;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ipls.ao\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lunda Sul Polytechnic Institute<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #1b9280;\">,<\/span> the <\/span><span style=\"color: #1b9280;\"><a style=\"color: #1b9280;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ispsn.org\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sol Nascente Higher Polytechnic Institute<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the <\/span><a style=\"color: #1b9280;\" href=\"https:\/\/espbengo.ed.ao\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Escola Superior Pedag\u00f3gica do Bengo<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #1b9280;\">,<\/span> and the <\/span><span style=\"color: #1b9280;\"><a style=\"color: #1b9280;\" href=\"http:\/\/isced.ed.ao\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Instituto Superior de Ci\u00eancias da Educa\u00e7\u0101o<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #999999;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Becerril-Garc\u00eda, A.
