The webinar aims to highlight and discuss the importance of protecting the Diamond Open Access model in Latin America, a region that leads the world in developing non-commercial, university-led scholarly publishing where neither authors nor readers pay fees.<\/p>\n
It focuses on identifying the current challenges and pressures threatening the sustainability of this model \u2014 particularly the global shift toward Article Processing Charges (APCs) \u2014 while showcasing successful regional initiatives that demonstrate the strength and resilience of community-driven publishing.<\/p>\n
The discussion seeks to promote policies and collaborations among universities, libraries, and research institutions to ensure that scientific communication remains a public good, preserving epistemic diversity, linguistic inclusion, and equitable access to knowledge across the Global South.<\/p>\n
